A beautiful smile….a beautiful dress and a perfect wedding day

So you have just said “yes’ and now the calendar is wide open for you to plan your adventure wedding with Maverick Helicopters. Here are a few things to consider when making your special day plans:

  • Book early for dates such as 07-07-07, 08-08-08 and 09-09-09, Valentine’s Day, long weekend holiday dates and any Saturday sunset package. Check the NASCAR schedule. No strip flights will be available and very few Grand Canyon or Valley of Fire on Sunday of the race which is usually early March.

  • May and October are the best weather months. July and August are the monsoon months with the hottest temperature.

  • A question of Grand Canyon or Valley of Fire? The Grand Canyon which is one of the seven natural wonders of the world is the most popular. You land approximately 3,500 feet below the rim enjoying all the incredible muted colors that the desert has to offer along with the Colorado River running 300 feet below the landing site. The complete opposite is experienced at the Valley of Fire where you land atop a plateau overlooking the incredible valley of brilliant red rock formations along with the desert colors. Why not experience both with our top of the line Sunset Brilliance package.

  • Consider bringing along a light jacket during the winter months. You can always take it off or put it on depending on your needs. The normal average high temperature for the winter months is 50F – 60F degrees. Of course, there is always that exception which seems to be happening more often.

  • Consider your footwear….the Grand Canyon is very rocky and stilettos might look great but hard to walk in.

  • Consider your hairdo. Earphones which has a band across the top of your head is worn during your flight in order to communicate with the pilot and your wedding party. They also alleviate a great deal of the helicopter noise.

  • Customizing the packages to your needs and desires is a specialty we love to make happen…..just ask our in-house wedding coordinator. http://www.maverickhelicopter.com/wedding-listing.aspx

10 good reasons why you choose a Maverick Helicopter wedding

  1. You can live without those expensive exotic flowers that wilt in no time in the desert of the Grand Canyon.

  2. Eliminate family and friend’s disappointment when they are not invited.

  3. Take a 15 minute limousine ride to your honeymoon destination.

  4. You won’t fret over your wedding registry, which bride’s maid should be your maid of honor and which side of the room guests should be seated.

  5. The venue is one of the nature’s largest wedding facilities.

  6. The money you save on a large traditional wedding can be doubled at the craps table.

  7. So what if your hair-do is a disappointment…..the wind might be blowing anyway.

  8. If you hate every photo of yourself…you still have the incredible scenery in the background and not just a white arch with vines running through it.

  9. If you trip on the way to join your partner it will only be over a rock and not down the aisle.

  10. And last but not least…if you need to cool off you can always go for a little dip in the raging Colorado River.

Cherry Nightclub is ripe for the pickin'!

As a local in Las Vegas, I find that I do not visit the Neon Strip unless family or friends are in town. So finding local clubs and hangouts are important to make my evening out fun! A wonderful “local” club is located at Red Rock Casino. Cherry is the hottest hang out for locals, celebrities, and some tourists that venture off the strip. Unlike the clubs on the strip, Cherry is not overly packed and the longest I have waited in line is 10 minutes. The dress code is basic – no tennis shoes or sneakers but as long as you look put together, you can get in. The atmosphere is fun and exciting and the dance floor is a good size. As you walk through the tunnel entrance to the club, the rich colors pop out at you and you immediately notice the upscale feeling of the club. With private VIP tables with curtains separating each space, patrons have the option to socialize without distractions and interruptions. The lighting is low but you can still see across the club without looking funny squinting. The music is a nice mixture of good dance music with all the new hits playing throughout the night with a mix of everything else! There is always a live DJ that takes requests. Although drink prices aren’t cheap, they are still reasonable at about $8 for a mixed drink. Year-round you can lounge outside by the pool and outdoor bar with plenty of space to mingle. Although I would not recommend trying to take a midnight dip since it really is only for show at night. They even have heat lamps during the cool months! For anyone that wants to do the club thing without all the crowds and chaos of the strip, Cherry is the place to see and be seen!

Take a train to The Grand Canyon

Be mesmorized by the Phantom at the Venetian!

To celebrate my birthday, I was treated to Phantom: The Las Vegas Spectacular at the Venetian. Having seen the original Phantom of the Opera on Broadway, I was weary of how Vegas was going to pull this off. I wasn’t let down! The show was nothing short of spectacular! A true Las Vegas show with its showy special effects, lighting, sound, and beautiful staging, it knocked me off my feet! It can’t be compared to the original opera because, although the love-triangle story line was the same, the way in which it was dramatized was completely different. It was much flashier but how else can Las Vegas do it?! The tickets are a little pricey (up to $160 per ticket) but well worth the money. You can find specials and discounts are available as well. I recommend anyone who wants to see a magnificent show in Las Vegas to check out Phantom at the Venetian, they won’t be disappointed!

Double the Adventure

My personal favorite double wedding was with these two couples from abroad. They brought with them loved ones so they had two helicopters and it was all very glamorous and beautifully put together with their own style and individual tastes. This was a beautiful wedding and I hope you enjoy the photos they have let us share with you.

I love the fact that with such an adventure style wedding the couples have choices of which way to go, very traditional or very casual. I have seen everything from an elegant white wedding dress so full the bride had to hold it down for the pilot and guests to see out the forward window to a fun loving couple who were touring the USA and chose tee shirts, shorts and flip flops. Whatever your choice, the natural beauty of your surroundings only enhance your personal preferences.

Do you have loved ones that are also thinking of tying the knot? You can economize by having a double wedding for only $200 more. This includes a second bouquet as well as a second copy of your photos.

Maverick Wedding Paparazzi

Maverick does get our share of celebrities and it has been my responsibility to protect our wedding guests on occasion from the paparazzi. The most interesting was when one of them was taking photos from outside the fence and I had to block their view. He would step to the side for a shot and I would step to the side. We had a great little dance routine going on so all the photographer caught was a photo of the helicopter departing. I love my job.

A July wedding in Las Vegas?

Now, keep in mind that July is one of our most popular wedding months. It is also our hottest month along with August and it is the monsoon season. This year has been an exceptionally interesting weather month for our brides and grooms and it has been challenging but we have managed to get everyone out as planned so far. While the wedding day generally is stressful for obvious reasons, the weather should not be one of those stresses and we do our best to alleviate any worry regarding their flight. But, I really have to give kudos to the brides and grooms this year that had to deal with the uncertainty. They were terrific and never a negative word or suggestion that this may have an impact on the special day. Just for your information, May and October are our best weather months.

On tonight’s episode of The Great American Road Trip, the final four families make a pit stop at Slide Rock State Park in Arizona. The place literally lives up to its name as no one can stay on their feet while attempting to relax in the streams. Silvio’s fall was the best one… thank God he didn’t get his hair wet! It was a big day for Mr. DiSalvatore. Not only did he take a swim, but he learned how to pump gas.

Slip, slide fun
The first stop for the families tonight was Slide Rock State Park in Sedona, Ariz. The Coote family was looking for another win, the Pollard family was looking for the Grand Canyon and Silvio was looking for some sun. Everyone was amazed by the red rocks that surrounded them, which were beautiful.
