What type of helicopter does Maverick fly?

Maverick flies the ECO-Star EC-130 helicopter exclusively at its Hawaii, Las Vegas, Henderson and Grand Canyon locations. The ECO-Star is the most modern helicopter flown and offers the highest level of safety in the industry.

What do I need to bring?

Guests over 18 must bring valid photo identification for check-in, credit card and/or voucher if pre-paid. Cameras and video cameras are recommended, as well as sunglasses and comfortable clothing.

Do you provide hotel transportation?

We do not provide hotel transfers in Hawaii. Please arrange it directly with your concierge. We are not responsible for taxi/transportation.

Where is the heliport located?

The Kahului heliport in Maui is located at Lelepio Pl, Kahului, HI 96732.
The heliport in Kauai is located at 3441 Kuiloko Rd, Hanapepe, HI 96716.

Is there a charge to park at the Maui heliport?

Yes, the parking area at the heliport is privately owned by ABM Parking Services. There is a "Self Service Pay Booth" at the entrance that accepts Visa and MasterCard. It also accepts cash, but does not provide any change. Parking charges average $7.

What are the requirements for my child to qualify as a lap child? Does Maverick make any exceptions regarding their lap child policy?

Children over the age of 2 yrs. will be required to purchase a seat. Children under the age of 2 yrs. are required to have proof of age (passport or birth certificate).

Maverick follows the same policy as all of the commercial air carriers. This policy is regulated by the FAA and states that parents must have proof of child's age (i.e. government documentation) if they wish to take the child on a flight as a lap child.

As governed by the FAA, we are not permitted to make any exceptions to this policy.

Can a child/minor fly unaccompanied?

Passengers under the age of 18 must be accompanied on the flight by an adult.

What should I expect on my helicopter excursion?

Maverick prides itself in being the only "true" VIP-level helicopter company. Guests will be treated to the plush interior of our ECO-Star helicopters, as well as personal narration by our highly qualified pilots.

The helicopters are equipped with seven leather passenger seats plus one for the pilot. The seating arrangement is determined by the pilot based on the passengers' weights.

How can I best capture all of the highlights of my helicopter adventure?

Maverick Helicopters offers a personalized, DVD recording of the flight. Our helicopters are equipped with an exterior camera, as well as an audio system that captures the pilot's narration and the interaction between guests during the flight. This video keepsake is a great way to share your experience with friends and relive your excursion for years to come. Photographs are also taken prior to departure and are available in a custom plaque. Photo and DVD packages are available only on the same day of your trip and can be purchased before or after your flight.

Can I cancel or reschedule my tour?

Maverick Helicopters has a 48-hour cancellation policy. You have up until 48 hours before your flight departure to make any changes or cancellations. Changes or cancellations are not permitted within 48 hours of your flight departure. No-shows will be charged in full with no refunds.

I did not receive my email confirmation?

Hotmail, America Online, Yahoo! and Google email addresses are very popular and as a result receive a large amount of spam, or junk email. For this reason they have junk mail filters that in some cases only allow those email addresses that are in your address book to arrive in your inbox. For this reason it is important that is added to your address book so that you receive any booking information or other important emails from us that relate to any tour you have booked online with us. If you should not receive an email within 24 hours we suggest contacting our reservation department at 1-888-261-4414.

What are the terms and conditions?

Excursions require a minimum number of passengers to operate. Prices and schedules are subject to change without notice. A 48-hour cancellation notice is required; no-shows at the time of departure will be charged in full and will not receive a refund. All times are approximate. Maverick Helicopters reserves the right to combine different length flights. Group terms may vary depending on booking time and the number of guests. The maximum weight limit per person is 300 lbs. and the total passenger weight on the helicopter may not exceed 1,140 lbs. (seven passengers). Guests over the weight limit will be required to purchase 2 seats. Children over the age of 2 yrs. will be required to purchase a seat.

I'm in a wheelchair. Can I still take a flight?

Yes, to fly you must be accompanied by someone who can assist you with boarding and disembarking the aircraft. Please keep in mind, Maverick's staff is unable to assist guest into/out of the aircraft.

I use an oxygen tank for medical necessity - can I bring it on my flight?

Maverick Helicopters allows oxygen condensers and tanks as long as there is a clearly visible ‘D.O.T. Approved’ stamp or placard on it.

Are service animals permitted on helicopter flights?

No. There are no service animals permitted on any of the helicopter flights. Title 14 of The Code of Federal Regulations, Part 382.117, states that animals cannot fly if “the animal obstructs an aisle or other area that must remain unobstructed to facilitate an emergency evacuation.” Every exit and aisle on a helicopter is an emergency exit and aisle. Additionally, as no one can be certain of how an animal will react when highly stressed or traumatized, their access to the flight controls is a major safety concern to all aboard the helicopter, especially in the event of an emergency.

Pregnant women can fly?

Yes, pregnant women are able to fly with Maverick. We always recommend checking with your doctor.

If I occasionally suffer from motion sickness, will I have a problem during the flight?

Motion discomfort products are available for purchase in the gift shop. Motion sickness bags are located onboard the aircraft in the seat back pockets.

Can I smoke during the tour?

Smoking is prohibited onboard the aircraft and on the ramp.

Can I bring a beverage on the flight?

Bottled water is the only beverage allowed to be consumed on the aircraft during flight.

Can I use my cellphone during the flight?

Cellphone voice, messaging, and data use is prohibited on the aircraft. Mobile devices must be turned off or set to airplane mode prior to boarding.

Can I take pictures of the aircraft?

Personal photography is prohibited on the ramp. Passengers will have opportunity to take pictures of the aircraft after landing.

Can I exit the aircraft as soon as it lands?

Passengers are prohibited from touching the doors of the aircraft unless given instruction to do so by the pilot. The pilot will open and close all aircraft doors.

Do pilots accept tips?

Pilot gratuities are accepted and appreciated.

What's the best time of day to fly? Can we wait until arriving in Hawaii to reserve our seats?

Anytime is a great time to fly. We suggest making your reservation at least two weeks ahead of time so you can ensure the date and time you want is available as we typically sell out. Should you wait until you get to Hawaii, we may or may not have seating available. It is also a good idea to book your tour for the early part of your stay. We offer flights throughout the day.

Do you offer group discounts?

Group rates start at 21 passengers or above. We have a group specialist should you be interested in booking a group reservation.

Do you have any overnight tours?

No, currently Maverick does not offer overnight tours.

Do you operate every day? And what are the times?

Yes, Maverick is open 365 days a year including all holidays. We fly from Sunrise to Sunset depending on weather.

Should I take motion sickness medication?

This is entirely up to you. Most people do not need one.

Are we the only passengers in the helicopter?

There are seven passenger seats and you may be sharing the aircraft with other guests. We cannot guarantee any particular seating since it is all based on "Weight and Balance".

Do you guarantee I will see all sites listed on your brochure?

Every flight is beautiful and unique. We will do our best to show you the highlights described on the brochure depending on weather with safety and comfort in mind.

Do you fly in the rain?

Yes we do, we fly when we feel it is safe and enjoyable. If your pilot decides to cancel the tour due to weather then we will try to re-schedule based on availability. If guests are unable to re-schedule then we simply cancel and refund in full.

Can I scuba dive before my helicopter flight?

You must wait at least 24 hours after scuba diving before taking a helicopter flight.

Do you see lava on your tours?

The only active volcano is "Kilauea" and it is located on the Big Island of Hawaii. A private charter may be arranged.

How long has Maverick Helicopters been in business?

Maverick Helicopters opened first in Las Vegas in December 1995.
